VALENTINE’S DAY is Coming UP– WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS?
Valentine’s Day holds different meanings for each of us. In our home it’s a day to be celebrated with the ones we love, to express our love for one another, and exchange small tokens. For you, maybe it’s something different. How do you plan to celebrate? Here are some ideas for you in case you need a little help.
Valentine’s Gift & Decor Ideas
Since I’m a DIY girl at heart I love coming up with clever DIY ideas. Here are some of my current favorites.
Show friends and family some love with simple, sentimental crafts. Bonus…they double as affordable gifts and home décor! Mason jars are versatile:
1) fill a mason jar with Hershey’s Kisses, or other small treats (extra points if you tie ribbon around the jar, or paint it pink or red);
2 fill mason jars with blooms from the grocery store;
3) make your own Date Night Jar by inserting scraps of paper that list fun, easy things to do with your partner all year long.
Here’s a clever DIY idea – Happy Heart Sticks! If you haven’t been to the blog Desperately Seeking Gina, you should visit soon. Gina never disappoints with her clever craft ideas. She has provided a list of materials for this cute project, and bonus….a video! So, if you’re more of a visual learner (like I am), you’ve got everything you need on her blog to make this project with the kiddos! These would also be clever little gifts for co-workers,or teachers. Honestly, they are just too cute and would make a great little décor addition!
Remember those coupon books we all made for our parents? “This coupon entitles you to one day of me doing the dishes.” Why not create home-made coupons for things your partner would enjoy?
FOR HIM: one month of Sundays free to watch football, NASCAR, or a play a round of golf.
FOR HER: if she loves shopping at Target, two hours alone in Target (unlimited budget?).
What DIY ideas have you tried in the past?
DIY not your thing? No problem. Dinner plans for Valentine’s Day is a standard favorite for a lot of people. Plan a romantic outing to your favorite restaurant for a delicious meal. If both of you work, who has time to cook or fight the crowds at a restaurant?!? Solution: takeout! Takeout and some candles at home can be very romantic!
Go Big or Go Home
One dozen roses or tulips are great traditional gifts, but they can be expensive. Florists tend to raise their pricing for Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, etc. More affordable is a bouquet of flowers from the grocery store. Cards are always nice. And you know what “they” say about chocolates: a moment on the lips, forever on the hips! Instead why not give your sweetheart something unique?
Sunflower Designs has gorgeous Valentine’s wreaths in our Etsy shop. The beauty of a handmade wreath will last for seasons to come, whereas flowers are gone within a week. Let everyone in the neighborhood know whose home gets the most love. Head on over to our Etsy shop and see if we have something your Valentine would love. You can find us at www.etsy/shop/SunflowerDesigns2018.
Relationship of 1
Valentine’s Day doesn’t only have to be about celebrating relationships. Instead, pamper yourself! Book a spa treatment for yourself, or give yourself a Stay-at-Home-Spa-Day. After a facial and bubble bath, put on a movie of your choice and enjoy a singles-approved meal, with a glass of your favorite wine. Whatever would give you the most serenity and feeling of being pampered…that’s your ticket!
However you choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day, remember that it’s a bright spot in the midst of winter and an opportunity to enjoy a pop of color. Whether you stay in or go out dancing, enjoy the moment. Until next time, live creatively!
