Season of Giving and Seasons Greetings

Celebrate the season of giving with Sunflower Designs. Decorating with our favorite holiday items and keeping traditions alive where we can make the season brighter and merrier, even in these trying times.

Home for the Holidays

What a crazy year this has been. I think we can all agree that we are happy to say goodbye to 2020.
Whether you can travel to be with family far away or if you’re simply staying at home to be safe, the
holiday season is upon us. It would be easy to just pull the covers over our heads and ignore this holiday
time. But something as simple as enjoying our familiar holiday decorations can help us feel better.
We’ve made sure to decorate our home for the holidays. Putting up our tree with all our family
memories helped us find some holiday spirit. Our collection of Santas is always fun to unwrap and put in
a special place.

There are a couple of “elderly” teddy bears that make an appearance only at Christmas time. They
always end up in the little rocking chair that first belonged to my husband’s grandfather, made for him by
his father. This chair has been passed down through generations and now it’s where our granddaughter
loves to sit when she’s at our home.

Ways to Find the Holiday Spirit in 2020

If you’re not into the decorations this year, you can still find some holiday spirit. Here are a few ideas:

1. Find the holiday movie you most enjoy and watch it. Something as familiar as the holiday movies
you always enjoy can help relieve some of the stress of this year. Our favorites include “It’s A
Wonderful Life” and “Christmas Vacation.” Full disclosure “Die Hard” is also a favorite Christmas
movie. Who else considers it a Christmas movie?

2. Turn on some holiday music and light a candle. Of all the senses, our sense of smell is most
closely linked to memory. Lighting a candle may help you remember good holiday memories of
the past.

3. Create a new tradition. This year may find us unable to travel to be with family, or even to be
with family in the same city or town. So, make a new tradition for yourself.

4. Find a local event that you’re comfortable attending and participate. Check the website for your
local city or town, and see what’s happening where you can still social distance and feel safe.

The Season of Giving

Christmas is all about giving, and the spirit of giving can help us feel better. If you know of a local charity
that needs donations, help them if you can. Doing something nice for our first responders is also a great
way to give back to the community. In the past few days, we learned of a local family whose home
burned to the ground and they were left with nothing. Being able to help that family may be small to us
but will mean the world to them. There are so many ways to give to others this time of year.

In this season of giving, we’d like to give you a huge thanks for being our cherished customer. You have
blessed our small business by letting us help you with your home décor, and that has helped us to be
able to donate to causes close to our hearts.
